Latest Frill report

Hello everyone,

I have been a bit busy lately and end up not being able to post as much as i'd like here.

On the 4th of May there was a small event dedicated to Japanese culture in the nearby city of Vila Nova de Gaia. For the second year in a row, the Portuguese Lolita Community (egl portugal) has been present at the event with small contributions which match the size of the event. It's so a small event but at a fabulous place and it is always an honor for us to receive such invitations.
Last year there was a workshop, this year we set up an "introdution to lolita" room.

The gorgeous miss Ana and Claudia setting things up
Group photo. I love this photo because everyone's laughing and nobody is paying attention to the photographer
I wore gothic lolita to match my friend kirarah who was in egl in the same colors.
Moitie dress, headdress, accessories, chantilly socks, juliette et justine bolero, etc

I love this shot first because my brother's in it but also because me and Ana are wearing the same sort of outfit without discussing what we'd wear.
It was a fun day but I admit I was very tired when it ended. I hope people got to know a bit more about the style and that more people will join as a result. That's why we do this afterall. <3

I haven't been able to buy things regularly anymore. Portugal is going through rough times now. But I am still receiving things I got the previous months and that I forgot to share.
I ordered the newest Gothic and Lolita Bible of course and I algo got another Muchacha mook. This bag is even wackier than the previous one.

On the 17th of May the Portuguese Lolita Community celebrated its 7th birthday. It is really a pleasure to see that all my hard work ended in a community that still is able to survive. We arranged for an online and offline meetup on the 19th and me and some girl gathered at my place where we had an afternoon snack, chatted online via webcam with the rest of the comm and also celebrated the soccer championship victory of our town's soccer team. It was a lot of fun.
Part of our afternoon tea table.

This is what I wore. It's the second time I wear this dress. I wish it was a bit longer but i think its adorable anyway. Dress and bag are from Innocent World, bolero is Mary Magdalene, boots are Queen Bee and the rest is offbrand.

As for last buys, well these are a bit old but i ended up getting a dress i already owned back and an offbrand winter top that i won't be able to wear for months because summer is coming soon.

Btssb trianon chiffon op in white and offbrand velveteen red top with lace colar.

Lastly I was surprised with a package this last week. A former Portuguese lolita and friend sent me a couple of things she found in the back of her closet that fits the lolita look but doesn't quite fit her current style.
This is what the content had:
Shoe pink clip on bows, black clip on bows, a lovely letter, fake eyelashes, and some puffs.

She also sent a Fernando Pessoa postcard for my husband because he's the biggest Fernando Pessoa fan I have ever met. Actually he is the reason why he started learning Portuguese and why he ended up in Portugal hence the reason why we met. I owe him a lot. <3

And that's all that happened lolita-wise lately. I hope you enjoyed reading.
A big hug to all of you,
Jo

A very special weekend

Hello everyone,

This weekend was special to me, it was the birthday of my friend lucythewhite. So I spent part of friday, saturday and sunday with her and some of the local lolitas (friends).
It was super special and it made me happy to be a part of it.

The idea was to replicate what we did the previous year so lucy scheduled another sleepover meeting at her place.

We ate a ton of chocolate (boy I do not know why I'm so big and she's so slim, the girl loooves her sweets haha),watched some movies, played games, chatted a lot about everything and wore pretty clothes. What's there not to like?

Because it was lucy's birthday she got to pick what I was going to wear as a bonus and being an Emily Temple Cute fanatic she obviously picked the only etc dress I own. She did pick a moitié dress as well.

The gigantic amount of cake, pie, cookies and chocolate fondue she had for us!

Here's lucy first pick, we both wore her favorite brand, Emily Temple Cute. I wanted something confortable and brought a matching friend, my newest blythe (Neve) who was wearing the same pring.
Me and the birthday girl. She is sooo cute, lolita suits her very well. She's one of my inspirations <3

The other pick was this blue moitié dress. It's one of my most confortable dresses so I was super happy she chose this one too. I think having others pick a dress for you is fun! It's like a surprise for oneself as well and because i never coordinate beforehand its not a bother at all, on the contrary.
Me, Mineko and kirarah, they looked so pretty too! Kirarah's wearing one of lucy's outfits with one of my Angelic Pretty wishlist prints. She looks so amazing I have encouraged her to "borrow" that outfit more often. <3 Mineko is so photogenic, she always looks perfect in all her shots!
Mineko took her girl with her too, she has a pure neemo body which seems like a lot of fun to pose.
Overall it was just a perfect weekend although I'm still a bit sleep deprived. It's impossible to sleep a lot when around friends, even when its "bed time" we end up falling asleep after chatting for a long time!

We should really do sleepovers more often.

Oh, if you haven't noticed I'm doing a small giveaway on a previous entry. I'd love it if you guys participated, its a lot more fun if there are more entries.

I hope you liked reading about our weekend.
A big kiss,
Jo

No more macarons

Hello!

So remember that place I was so happy about having reopened, the tea house where we usually hang out around here? It closed, yes, AGAIN. The sign on the door was removed, everything inside is gone and there's a paper saying it is closed for debt meetings. I think its gone way past meetings now, it looks like a ghost store. It's terrible. How did they let this happen again?
But anyway less more worrying and terrible than those poor workers being put in this spot again (I used to chat with them about it) but still disappointing is the fact that again we no longer have a french style pastry café again.

We had scheduled a meeting exactly at that place and when one of the girls got there she saw what was going on and for a bit we thought they were closed only on that day but nah.
So we changed plans and moved to the Armazém do Caffé which is also tasty and the people who work there are also pretty nice so it was ok.

I arrived a tiny bit later than I wanted to but when I got to the coffee shop I wasn't the last one so that made me feel less guilty. But lucy and kuks were already there and they looked so beautiful, I was smitten! kirarah and Sakura arrived a bit later and we sat there and chatted a lot mainly about cultural differences between Japan and Portugal because Sakura dreams of living there.

The theme was "floral" so I went with a grey x black outfit that time. The weather was sad and gloomy and I didn't feel like wearing a lot of color then. I think it was an ok pick since the dress and tights have tons of floral details and I have some flowers on my hair as well.

The coordinate made of: MmM hair accessories, BPN coat, Meta dress, Iw tights and my beloved bordello boots that I wear way too much.

The fact that I picked black ended up being great for the group shots as we all looked completely different even though the theme was the same. Don't they look beautiful?

After spending the afternoon drinking hot chocolate/tea/coffee and chatting about this and that we eventually came back to my place where some of the girls got to finally meet my daughter. I really like this photo because Lucy and Kirarah look very happy and so does Mari. <3 I want to have it framed.
And this is what a lolita mommy looks like I suppose.
We decided we should go to a restaurant and have dinner together for a change so we went to lucy's favorite chinese restaurant and had a good time there. We ended up meeting another portuguese lolita there who didn't even know we were heading to the same restaurant so it was sort of amusing.
After this amazing night was over we said goodbye parted ways and headed back home.

I wish we could all just have fun like that every day. But the next day was a work day. Back to reality. :D

Hope you liked reading about my day again.
Love,
Jo
