Dolls

“Mom: why is that girl dressed like a doll?”

I’ve been a fan of dolls for a while. I guess it makes sense, anyone who’s into Lolita must at least like doll-like clothes and it is said that to achieve perfection is to look as much as possible to a living doll.

There are a lot of different kinds of dolls one can chose from but my favorites are definitely SD’s and Pullips (and associated dolls).

I never posted about this here but, in 2005 I saved for my first SD (which is still my dream doll - currently unavailable).

When i reached the amount necessary, after lying to my mother about the price of the doll (Basically told her it'd be 100euros) and still hearing from her that she totally disapproved of me spending so much in a doll, I felt an incredible amount of guilt and couldn't do it.
I knew really well that i would not be able to afford lolita and BJD so I told myself that I could do lolita first and then, when i was older and maybe looked a bit off in lolita, I could direct my income towards this hobby.
I still wear lolita but the bug has come again and I feel the urge to finally get started. I will do my best, maybe in a couple of months I can be a proud owner after all these years.

The other sort of doll I like are Pullip dolls (and Dal and Byul of course). I am quite partial to the lolita brand colabs of course so, if BJD turn out to be impossible for me to get, maybe i'll start with Pullips. They are a lot less expensive but still very adorable.

Just like lolita, the best way to start in a new hobby is to surround yourself with people who know more than you do and who can teach you. I didn't find any BJD forums in Portugal (I am in DoA since 2005 though) but i found a comm that i knew was out there, which is a comm dedicated to Blythe dolls but that accepts most sort of dolls.
They had scheduled a meetup for last saturday and so, i picked up my mini Pullip and off I went.
I had such a good time! It was really nice to talk to the girls (and boy) and learn about Blythes. I'm not a huge fan of them, or I wasn't a fan at all but they even made me want to own one, so strange.

All the dolls at the meetup. Overwhelming.

This one was the only one I owned haha a mini Pullip Fanatica. She's pretty cute though.

When i got home, my husband took me grocery shopping and i made a fast trip to the local toy store to look for the mini blythe x pets colab toys.
The mini blythe colab with little pet shop + a silly contraption that is supposed to simulate plastic bubble wrap bursting sounds. haha

Got one (they're cute and cheap when in comparison) and i even made her some accessories. I want to make her some clothes but she is just so tiny!
Anyway, it felt really neat being there, it was a nice day. And, as I said, the bug is here again!

Are you a Doll fan? Got any? Have any dream dolls? Tell me everything ^_^;

Vamos ver.. XD

  3. I am a doll fan, I have 8 bjd's ♥
I also have a few dreamdolls, but, I have promised myself to not spend any money on new dolls at the moment. Because lolita is already expensive, and I already have quite alot of dolls already. But, hopefully in the future I will manage to get one of those dreamdolls ^^
My dreamdolls at the moment are Crobidoll Ys,DIM Achernar and AiL Elijah ♥

  4. I'm a doll fan too but I can't buy one... Lolita is still a priority for me and unfortunately I don't have money for both :( Well I'm sure you will let me "play" with your doll (I hope you get that beautiful BJD you showed me the other day)

  5. Ni: Wow 8! I'm really jealous of you and of anyone who lives close enough to visit them, i only saw one live so far! I love Crobidolls too, but right now i'm still in love with luts and with the polish maker Marti. I do worry sometimes that it'll not be a good buy though. I think my reasoning is still very much connected to that of lolita. haha.

Lucy: Thanks hon, it's time to go back to old '05. haha.

  6. My first doll was Pullips Prunella. I saw her and it was just... LOVE. I had to buy her! She is so pretty and I love all the cute details on her clothing! The little crosses, her lovely necklace.
At home I've got birdcages for my dolls.

Here you can see my Prunella! The reason why I started to store them in birdcages is pretty simple: my cat can't "kill" them when they're inside.
She once attacked Prunella so it's the best like that.

My second doll was Barasuishou. She's a Pullip x Rozen Maiden doll. I liked Rozen Maiden and I really think this doll is a bit scary but still adorable.

Later I made the same decision. Lolita is pretty expensive and collecting dolls too. For now I concentrate on Lolita. But I think there will be a time when I start to collect dolls again!

    1. Aww I know prunella, i love her too, she's stunning and I adore that photo of you and your dolls in a little tea party. <3
I find the idea of storing them in cages super original. I just place mine in a cabinet, their "doll house" so I'm no fun.
I only have that one pullip and she was bought without stock, nude so she's not special and the wig i got her was cheap but is also vivid red, not very realistic and it doesn't match most things so that kinda sucks.
I would love to own more but its really hard to. I hope we both can do so!
