I'm on holiday!

Hello everyone!

So I am oficially on holiday starting today and I already wore lolita because my local comm had a meeting scheduled (Saturday, 11th July) and they had a theme, Alice in Wonderland. I did not want to go in something super elaborate because it is summer but I was not sure of what i could wear in the theme... until i remebered I had this dress and so I decided to go as a classic version of Alice. I put it together right before the event.

I decided to take my daughter because my husband offered to give us a ride and was being super supportive. He really wants me to enjoy myself as much as possible which is basically one of the reasons I fell for him, his heart.

Everyone seemed cool about me taking her and she had fun, she ate so many sweets (I only had tea so that was fine). Not sure its good for a kid her age to eat stuff like that but i suppose one time won't hurt.
Since I lost my favorite and only pair of sunglasses I had to get a new pair. It does not match lolita at all. haha
I am a bit worried about these shots to be honest, maybe my camera settings are wrong. I must ask someone who gets them to have a look. Photos come out a bit blurry and with little definition at the moment.
After tea, cookies, confeito and chatting they called us for photos. I asked Gabi to take some shots with my camera too because she will only deliver hers in a couple weeks and that did not make sense to me since I'm on holiday and now is the time I can actually update (but she is really busy!) so that's why I have some photos. I could have taken more now that I think back.

The only shot I sort of like, look how blurry it is! Anyway this was my classic take on Alice.
Outfit info:
Onepiece: Atelier Pierrot
Head accessories: offbrand (stradivarius, aatp and chantilly)
Acccessories: handmade, offbrand (primark, bijou brigitte)
Tights/socks: offbrand (primark/tutuanna)
Shoes: offbrand (t.u.k.)
The "tea time" gigantic tea cup necklace really brought the look together.
My friend Paula made it so its dear to me too. <3
After the shots we spent some time chatting outdoors in a café because it was really hot inside the store. Braga is a city away from the coat so temperatures are higher there.
At 7-ish we were ready to go home, especially since we were 45min-1 hour car ride away from home.
We said our goodbyes and thank you and left.
It was nice spending the day with local lolitas, it had been a while.

Hope you enjoyed reading about my day and that you are enjoying yourselves too.

Jogging

Hello!

On the 1st of May, a national holiday in Portugal, the local lolitas scheduled a meeting.
Even though I was busy and arrived late, i went to this anyway. I wore something super casual and fast to get on.
The chosen spot was our regular café which serves everything every lolita seems to like, including the typical macarons which is what I had.

Regular coffee in Portugal and a raspberry macaron.
Casual classic look: h&m hat, Innocent world bag, jsk and bolero, calzedonia tights and tuk boots.

We chatted a lot about how our community was doing and other related issues. It was very informative to be honest.
I had a lot of fun! Thank you girls!

I have been getting into running lately. I have been running for about a month and some days and, with the exception of last week because it was raining every day, I have been running 5km almost every single day.

I never thought i'd like to run, i don't even like going out alone, but I do. I am not doing this to lose weight since I'm still eating like I normally do, but to feel healthy and energised. I'm not sure it is helping in any of that but I am determined to keep going.
The furthest I've ran without stopping was 9.20km in about 1hour and 6 minutes.
Honestly i'd love to be in the gym so i could swim and use the machines too but i stopped because i cannot afford it anymore.

So what about you? What sort of excercise are you into right now?

Lisbon trip (part3)

Hello!
I woke up and took my brother to a very famous place for breakfast, Confeitaria Nacional. It's a lovely place but there aren't that many tables so sometimes you have to wait a bit for a table. Fortunately we didn't have to.
After that I went to a goth store to buy a pair of shoes that I had seen online, a pair of t.u.k. heart cut shoes. They are very much like a pair of baby the stars shine bright heart cut heels except there is an extra strap on these and the bow is in another place. They obviously look a lot less well made and elegant but i still like these and i thought it would be a good buy.
We finally went back to the hostal where we took it easy and i took my time getting ready. I didn't want to be late (and I wasn't yay!).

I stayed in Lisbon because of this day's events. I told the local members that I could be there that day so they were super kind and arranged a meeting on purpose. It felt really nice not having to think about what to do or where to go for a change.
The person in charge of the meetup (nessi) decided we should visit an exhibit called "Um Chá para Alice" or Tea with Alice. It is at the Gulbenkian foundation until the 10th of February 2013. You can read more about it at the Gulbenkian website.

For those who cannot visit I leave you some examples of the wonderful illustrations one can find there. Enjoy:

After we visited the exhibit some of the girls had to leave so I spent some time with them and we also took advantage of the light to take the mandatory outfit shots. Some of the people attending didn't wear lolita because they are fairly new to our community. We are absolutely ok with that as our main purpose it to promote the style and meet anyone who is interested. They were actually very nice girls and I was happy they could have attended even if briefly.

I decided to wear very typical sweet lolita to please the two people wearing lolita in this photo as they are both sweet lolita fans. I think nobody was expecting to see me in all pink and off white hehe that was fun!

I wore a btssb coat, wrist cuffs and bag, Metamorphose socks, Emily temple cute shoes, Angelic Pretty headdress and dress and Primark hair accessory and shirt.

After saying goodbye we went to meet the other attendees at what it seems to be a very popular and fashionable tea house called Poison D'Amour. Traffic was caotic in that area and we were a bit late but when we got there the rest of the group was still waiting to be given a table. Yes we had to wait to be seated. That is just so strange to me, it never happens in my city (or very rarely!).

The building is a simple typical portuguese building but one cannot miss those huge black banners announcing that the tea house is right there.
The first thing you notice on your right when you get in are the cakes. The cakes look like art, they seem to be perfectly put together and the colors and textures just make you hurry and take a bite.
The connection with french desserts is clear, it it wasn't for the name of the place or the cake's names then this huge imagem on a big wall would seal the deal.
I didn't take a lot of photos of the place though. We waited a lot for a table.
I read magazines, chatted, went to the bathroom to check on my makeup, went outside, came back in again.... and still no table. I was a bit upset but i wasn't the only one, everyone was freaking out.
After we got a table it was time to order... which didn't go well either as it took another eternity. They clearly weren't having a good day and the customers paid.

I took photos of the girls, the table and ... my nails. That's how much time i had befor the food came.
FINALLY we got our order and chatted while we drank tea. It was fun.

After paying (it was expensive imo) we visited a nearby store that stocks Irregular Choice goodies and I helped them sell two adorable very loliable bags to two of the girls. What can I say? I love shopping!

After that we headed downtown where we chatted some more, took some more photos and then said goodbye. I had a blast.

I bought some food at a supermarket and cooked at the hostal and then went to bed.
And that was it for day 3, hoped you liked reading!

Loliday winter 2012

Hi everyone!

This time I'm going to post about how I spent this year's winter International Lolita Day. I was the one to organize it this time along with lucythewhite and we decided to go to an hotel in downtown Porto that we really like, the Grande Hotel do Porto. We decided to meet ther and have tea in a private room, play games and do a small giveaway as well.

The waiting room where we spent some time chatting and gathering everyone.
The tea room that they reserved for the group.
We only had tea and scones  but only because most girls wouldn't want to pay for the other,
more expensive, options
The whole group, only one girl missing (and the ones that weren't dressed according to the dresscode).
I wore a simple forest green and black outfit.
I didn't have time to put any makeup on because i was late which was unfortunate
but there are more important things than how one looks when we have resposibilities.
One thing I actually took some time to do was to add a bow to my headdress
and put some pearls and a crown to try and tie it better with the dress.
Takes 10min of one's time and improves an outit significatively.
I should pay more attention to details from time to time.
I looove lolita coats! I adore wearing lolita in the winter because of them and the mufflers and the scarfs and the mittens... I just love winter clothes.
I was wearing:
MmM headdress + offbrand altered bow; Metamorphose shirt, Metamorphose jsk, MmM otk socks, Primark shoes, Innocent World coat, offbrand muffler.

After the meetup we were invited by one of the girls to go to her place and grab a bite for dinner. So we went home, changed clothes and headed over to her place.

We had a blast, it surely was a really nice day.
I hope you can see how much fun we had from the photos and that you enjoyed reading about the Portuguese Lolita Loliday meeting. Girls came from all over the country too.

 Love, Jo

39

Hello again,

Basically I haven't been doing much lately, waiting, freaking out, feeling some pain, getting confused, the usual one would expect. Other than that I haven't been doing much lately.
Our local community did arrange for my last meeting though, we gathered at my place. The meeting theme was "gothic lolita" and we watched Interview with the Vampire which is one of my favorite movies of all time.

As it is getting a little bit colder I could finally wear some velvet. I miss autumn-winter lolita clothes so much, its the best time to wear lolita imo. What about you?

I wore a handmade shirt, triple fortune corsage, btssb dress, mmm socks and bordello boots.
The Portuguese community theme post saga continues and this week's theme is "bags". So again one has to take a shot of all the bags they own, talk about their favorite kind of bags, where one usually gets them from and also share some bag designs they would love to get a hold of.

My bag collection: some meta, some iw, some moitié, a visible one... swimmer, some btssb and a some offbrand of course. I do have favorites, wanna try guessing?
this is where most bags are kept.
As for dream bags... i have a few but mostly I'm unable to spend on anything major at the moment so even if i see them pop up for sale if not at a very inviting price i'll probably not get them.
The list include:
  • Innocent World strawberry bag Photo
  • Btssb heart purse (any color but i'd probably wear black the most) Photo
  • A violin shaped bag. My favorite is the btssb one but I also love the Jane Marple one.
  • Book bag by Artherapie Photo. I love their bags but they are expensive and to be honest it kinda bugs me that they release stuff that is so heavily inspired by JPG's stuff.
  • Not really lolita but a big want from I first got into lolita are both this vivienne westwood bag and all the new rose Jean Paul Gaultier bags especially in red but any color would be a dream come true.
  • Of course some more MmM bags. I wouldn't wear it a ton but i'd like to own the bat bag in the pleather version and that huge furry handbag with the floral corsage on the side too.
Anyway that's it for today. I hope you enjoyed reading. I still haven't gotten any requests so I'll just keep on posting outfits and whatever else I've got on photo atm.
Love,
Jo

Last meeting appearance?

Hello everyone,

So life has been pretty ectic lately. I am overwhelmed with work and arriving home rather late. This means that i've been tired and a bit absent of anything online related (unless that means 5 seconds here and there and sending emails and research, doing a lot of that lately). I am also finally starting to feel rather beat up from being in my 37th week. That's all for sumarizing what's going on over here.

Anyway the only lolita-related things I can add to this post are the following.
On the 1st of September we had a small gathering. It was scheduled for an animation related event but it was in the fabulous Hard Club. The café / restaurant is located in the top floor and from there we have a view of the rest of the place. Seeing as me and some other people didn't want to pay 5 euros to basically get into a space where you had a tiny corridor with only animation related merchandise for sale, a small area for workshops etc and an auditorium where cosplay competitions and whatnot were being held we just stayed there for the entire time. During that time the girls who are more into that sort of thing could just hang at the event back and forth as they wanted. It ended up being a really nice afternoon and I must recommend that you go to the café/restaurant for snacks, to hang out with friends or even have a meal. It's a good place for that and the staff is very friendly.
I took my blythe dolls with me and some (well most) of their wardrobe so me, Vânia, my brother (yes!) and Annie spent some time discussing my doll hobby and getting them into thousands of new outfits. It was ridiculous, childish and very girly and fun i must say.
It was very hot there so we all had cold beverages and just chatted a lot about this and that.
As I am not very organized unless we're talking work and some other things, I forgot my camera so we only took photos when my husband decided to stop by and join us. That means i only got photos in a very dark area and without much sunlight. It feels nice to wear lolita while i'm in the end of my pregnancy but i always want to ditch the heels and go for comfort.

Inside the Hard Club café/restaurant. Don't you just love the atmosphere?
My outfit was mainly Moitié, except for the jewelry, the headdress which is meta and the shoes which were my second ever pair of loliable shoes!
Group photo. The lovely lady in the right end had already changed into her summer clothes (too hot for lolita) but that doesn't mean our community doesn't want her to be in the photo!<3
*as always let me know if you want this photo removed for some reason!* The next day was what I was excited about though. My friend lucythewhite was organizing a Baby Shower for me and since its not common at all to have those in Portugal I was looking forward to it. So basically I mhat we a list of things that we still have to buy for our daughter and whatnot and people decided to pick what they could afford and whatever they could do to help.

Lucy picked a place that offered a brunch service, it was my first time having brunch and I honestly saw no difference between brunch and lunch. It's not something ordinary people like me experience a lot in my country.
They served a wide variety of things and had an infinite service of natual juices, when i say infinite i mean infinite!
Brunch goodies!
We chatted a lot and had fun even though it was super hot again.

Annie made a personalized package of course.
Baby shower haul! Isn't it impressive?
This is what Carla sent us all the way from Ireland. It was so nice of her, i love everything, thank you!
I'd like to thank everyone who came and also everyone who sent gifts but was unable to come. It made me feel blessed and it was of course a huge help, especially since we are undergoing so many renovations at this time.

I also am attending classes to get ready and while there i realised that i do not own too many baby clothes (which the nurse said its what usually happens) but i actually needed to get more so i went to Primark just to shop for her. I found the most adorable things ever but gosh baby clothes are expensive!
Blanket, bath towel, under garments, kigurumi and pink coat.
In terms of lolita related stuff there's not much to report. I have been focusing on other things and might not be able to afford a lot in the future.
I did however make an effort to get the new bible (45) and midori's book. They arrived this week. I really loved the bible but am not very keen on the midori book. I find that it is lower quality (print wise) than Misako's and also there are some segments that just do not interest me much. I do love it though, i never find that getting books is a waste.
Gothic & Lolita Bible and Midori's Doll Classica.
I found that Primark was filled with interesting accessories and footwear but not really clothes (I never really fall for their clothes lately). I loved them but i don't find them very affordable for primark etc. I'll try them with some outfits and then if i regret getting them i'll just exchange them for some more baby clothes.
Primark black classic heels.
I also got them in red. These are not suede, they are mostly shiny pleather but the color is very striking! Might not match most of my clothes though.
Primark red classic heel shoes.

And that is it for now, not very exciting I know but that's life at the moment.
Love as always, Jo

What are you wearing?

Hello everyone,

So basically this is a what have you been up to, post.

I guess we can start with what my wednesdays are like. I enrolled in this preparation course for mommies. We are basically trying to learn how to take care of a baby but more importantly how to prepare for the delivery. It's scary but interesting and sometimes really funny too.
Every week i go someone is leaving to have their baby so the class is always changing too. The speaker is a nurse so we also get to discuss our doubts etc. If you decide to have a child i highly recommend that you take these classes.

Last friday my brothers finally returned from their summer vacation. We've been wanting to take my older brother out for lunch at our local favorite japanese restaurant but because he works on week days we haven't been able to. So we took this chance and used his last free days to go.

This is my older brother, he is a very nice person and we love having him around.

The starter was a meat dish, it tasted great.

Part of the menu, sushi set.

And ebi tempura as an extra.
We also had sashimi, ice cream and of course coffee. It was all fantastic as usual.

Saturday we had a small gathering scheduled. It was in Vânia's house and the theme was classic diy. That obviously means we were supposed to wear something in that line as well as make an acessory of some sort.
Vânia baked cookies, very delicious cookies and we had fun.
This is what I wore: Btssb & mmm headbows, mmm shirt, btssb dress and sandals, iw bag and Jane marple socks.
This is the accessory i made during the meetup.
Sunday we had another meetup scheduled. It was our community's first online meeting inspired by Iiralina's idea of course. It ended up being a lot of fun and obviously people were required to try and wear lolita for the occasion so I did just that.
Handmade accessory, mmm shirt and jsk, iw socks and offbrand shoes.
Monday (today) I had some plans: do laundry, continue cleaning the first floor, going to the post office and taking shots of things i need to sell but i ended up playing dress up instead and then resting because i was feeling ery tired and kind of nauseous. None of these are too fancy, i just wanted to have fun. <3 It's been a while since i felt like doing that.
Mary magdalene corsage and dress, atelier pierrot bolero, offbrand socks and queen bee  shoes.
I wanted to take a shot with my Bjd one day and here it is, isn't she huge but fabulous? I love her.
I love queen bee so much, you have no idea!
The second outfit was a casual classic look, very pink, no wig.
I just love shoes!
Meta hat and jsk, iw bag, btssb shirt and mm corsage.

Self timer is the bomb!
And that is it so far. I hope you enjoyed reading as much as I enjoyed writing everything down.
A big kiss as usual,
Jo
