[Winter Loliday 2014] How i spent loliday

Hello everyone!

On the 6th of December most lolitas around the world were together with their local community celebrating winter Loliday but unfortunately for me this was not possible. Still I knew I had to celebrate this day in some fashion and since it was sunny we just went out for brunch.

Me, my husband, my daughter and my mom all went to a local café where we had scrambled eggs, orange juice, toast with butter and jam, coffee with a drop of milk and where we chatted and enjoyed ourselves.

We then took stroll around our lovely city, Oporto and took the chance to get some family shots and I also asked for a couple outfit shots to register the occasion as well.

Unfortunately soon my daughter got in a bad mood and we had to go back home where she took a nap. She always gets so cranky when she's sleepy.

After that, my husband had to attend a meeting so I asked my mom to take care of her in case she woke up. I picked up the book I'm currently reading (1Q84 by Haruki Murakami) and went to a nearby café where I had a glass of sangria and a lovely salmon sandwich.

Isn't the area lovely? This is where I live.
I eventually returned home where I changed clothes, it was cold and I had a special dinner that night which was again at our favorite Japanese restaurant. I seem to go there a lot... but its so awesome!
We attended the Japanese community dinner where I had to focus to understand what people were saying which is always a bit tough but I manage. We also played bingo and we actually won something, of course we did not win the mega awesome stuff but I got a bottle of port wine which Is now sitting under the Christmas tree waiting to be opened.

The dinner was long but I had a lot of fun. I am definitely going to attend it again next year and it was a smart call not to take my daughter with us this year. I still remember how horrible it was last year... I basically just took care of her the whole night and did not enjoy myself at all.
We then called a cab and went home where I watched a movie with my mom and stayed up late. It was a great day, I should just do this sort of thing every single Saturday.

So it wasn't a very Lolita day, but I was happy.
What did you do this Loliday? Care to share?

Love,
Jo

I'm back!

Hello everyone,

I am sorry for the absense. The reason why I have not posted recently is because I've been so busy at work. I honestly am not sure if i'll keep on having time to post anymore but i'll do my best to keep up.

Taking so long to post basically means all the details of the stories will be gone. I do not remember most of the things that happenes, I am like that.

I wore lolita a couple of times since the Iberanime event so I'm going to leave you with those shots, hope you like them.

Happy Loliday

Hello everyone,

How are you?
So obviously this is a loliday post, so sorry if its a bit cliché.
In our local community we alternate between meeting in the north (where I live) and the capital city. So usually when we celebrate it here lolita fashion fans travel from Lisbon to Porto and when its done there me and a couple others travel south. I rarely miss a Loliday. Unfortunately this time I couldn't go. My summer vacations are almost here and I have no money saved this time so I'm kind of worried.
It feels very bad not to have been there but I'm glad that they seem to have had a lot of fun!

So I just stayed home with my familly but instead of just doing my normal live in something else I decided to wear lolita.

I woke up fairly late, around 10am and my daughter was in my bed. My husband probably fed her and put her there. It's amazing how people around me can do a ton of things without being able to wake me up. I have a very heavy sleep.

After that I had breakfast and did some house chores.
I do not mind doing the laundry at all, its one of those things I will do with a smile on my face.
After this my husband called me for lunch. We had stew, chicken, beef, potatoes, cabbage, carrots... that sort of thing. It was tasty. <3 he is such a wonderful cook. Then it was back to work...

Vacuum cleaning doesn't bother me much either although its annoying to have to do it every 2 days.
I also put away some clothes. I don't mind that either, I do mind ironing... a LOT. I hate ironing. ;_;
After the house was more organized and everything was in place I got into something nicer.
I fell in love with a dress today and because i just got my paycheck and before I waste it all on house stuff and bills I got carried away and got it. It'll be waiting in Japan for me when I go back this summer. I already have two more dresses waiting for me there. I might not be able to afford much there but this way it'll seem like I did a ton of shopping. Inspired by that moment of happiness (why does buying lolita make me so happy? I'll never know...) I decided to wear one of the pair of tights the lovely Aviva sent me and came up with something a bit crazy but i still like it.

All done! I actually managed to put on fake lashes today! I am so proud of myself.
I had to ask my  husband to take photos of my outfit, he never says no, he's a sweetie.

So this is my outfit. I tried to wear a bit of red to match the tights too. You can't see it clearly but one leg is focues on the queen of hearts and the other is focused on the king of clubs.

After this we had dinner. we had salad and shrimp. It's so easy to get one's clothes dirty when eating shrimp by hand so I got in my hello kitty apron and it ended up being alright. I also had a mini beer. I really like beer even if its not very lolita haha.
We watched a bit of tv and now I'm in front of the pc and plan on playing a bit of sims3 before switching to my pjs.

So even though I didn't get to hang out with other lolitas in person this day was pretty nice. I enjoy my calm days at home with my familly, how couldn't I when I have such a loving husband and smiley daughter, right?

What about you? What did you do today?

A big kiss with love, always,
Jo

International Lolita Day Summer 2012

So how was your Loliday?
I traveled south to our country's capital city to meetup with the local lolitas. In the end some girls went from the north so it ended up being split between south and north lolitas. It is when you see these that you realise just how small the Portuguese lolita scene is.
Anyway it was a national meeting and it went really well. I had a blast and so did everyone else apparently. Good company, weird chatting and super caloric food, nothing could go wrong with such a recipe.

The weather wasn't great though and it actually rained. I wondered why on earth did I decide to wear a fully ivory outfit but those shoes are so confortable that i just felt like doing so even though it was nuts.

We started out going to an american style dinner and eating burgers and drinking milkshakes. I loved that place, i really want to go back some day. We don't have anything like it here in Oporto.

What I was wearing: MmM ritual jsk, MmM socks, ETC shoes, primark headband and shirt and  a victorian maiden corsage.
Part of the group eating and chatting. Some new members came too which is always amazing! I love meeting people who are into lolita, its rare over here. <3
And the group shot. We all look very happy, right?
After that we went to a sort of fair called Festa do Japão. It wasn't particularly interesting but some of the girls took that oportunity to meet up with fellow aquaitances. After hanging out there for a while we finally went to grab a bite somewhere and chatted for a looong time after that. The day ended at around 10pm and we said our goodbyes. It really was a full day.

The next day i woke up really early. I woke up so early that it gave me time to finish the book i took with me as well as take shots of Lucy White's yukata outfit. She was supposed to visit the fair too but i opted not to take her due to the bad weather conditions. I love her, she is my favorite blythe.

Lucy White in her travel stand and cute yukata set. I braided her hair and added those accessories to match the yukata colors. Doesn't she look cute?

Beautiful girl, I picked her name well ;P
The next day we woke up and headed over downtown. We took our suitcases with us and had coffee at Starbucks.
We then went to a local chinese store and bought some things. I got two wigs and two matching hair bows for my Angelic Pretty Sugar Pansy.

Mint hair bows. Satin but adorable and a good size too. <3

We then went to Oriente where we encountered very rude foreigners at lunch time haha and then finally got in our train back home. We were so tired! but we got home safe and with a smile on our faces.

Well that was it, hope you enjoyed reading about my loliday. I'd like to hear all about yours too!

Love,
Jo

Lolita Day (winter 2011)

Hello everyone,

I have been wearing less and less lolita lately. I haven't been feeling like it and i have also been very busy lately. Not being in my early 20's anymore makes it very hard to have the oportunity to wear whatever i would like and unfortunately there's not much I can do about it.

I did have the Lolita International Day lately and I decided to wear my Silent Moon op. It was a decision making experience because i hated how it looks on me.

Me and the custom hat I decorated
me and bunny (she's so pretty and perfect!)

We had a snack at a local patisserie that we all love and then we had dinner at a chinese restaurant, changed and then after some delicious cocktails/drinks we decided to go clubbing. It was really a great meeting, and I'm sure everyone had a blast.

So lets say Bye Bye to Silent Moon (white x black)

I am going to go on a trip tomorrow, i'm going to spend the holidays with my family in Japan. I decided not to take lolita clothes with me this year but i'll still update this blog with photos of some places and reports and whatnot.

"See" you soon,
J

Lolita Day (winter 2010)

Hello again.

Today I'm writing about how my winter loliday went this year, what I did, who I met, what I wore, the works.
As you must know, this years's International Lolita Day was on the 4th of December.
What is a loliday, you ask?

"Loliday is an international, biannual event. It is supposed to take place the 1st Saturday of December, for ladies and gents to sport their warm Winter outfits, and also the 1st Saturday of June, for the Summer outfits."

I usually organize all these events but since I'm on a leave from all that right now It was someone else's job this time. They decided to go with the same Hotel we had a meetup at some other time and I applauded the idea because I think they received us in the most amazing and polite manner possible. Always a pleasure to visit that Hotal and its staff.
Anyway we didn't do much, we had tea, ate some miniature cakes and chatted a lot. There was also a xmas secret santa swap (which didn't go too well, a shame how some people do not respect others at all but still profit from participating in the wrong manner but that's a different topic), the typical photos, etc. Me and some girls were also pretty happy to discover that we were allowed to smoke at the bar and that the cocktails were pretty cheap considering the atmorphere and that the place was just that, an Hotel.

Most of the girls were really gorgeously dressed with some drool-worthy pieces that will never fit me haha which makes me super proud but also somewhat jealous obviously, but more importantly they were all amazingly accessible and friendly so it was a fantastic afternoon in general. I will only post a couple of shots because the text is more important in a blog I think.

Group shot with all of us at the hotel's bar sitting room.

What I am wearing? Pretty much all moitie except for a Juliette et Justine bolero you can't see (damn all black coordinates) and Alice and the Pirate shoes.

Anyway that was it, I hope you enjoyed reading about my day, hopefully you'll share (link?) something about your own in your comments. I'd appreciate that.

Much love as always,
Jo
