Yesterday was saturday, I have started to appreciate weekends more lately due to some timetable changes that will occur at my workplace next year. I am therefore getting any chance I have to do different things. Yesterday was another one of those days.
I always watch a bit of the races for the Boavista Circuit and I even work with the sound of race cars "vrrm vrrrm"ing in my ears but I was really excited with what was to come this year.
My father has a very big passion for cars, mainly Italian cars. He always talked about it when we were kids so we always gave him tiny versions of ferraris for his birthday and christmas. Both my parents really love to drive and like cars a lot so it's a bit silly that I love to ride in them and love the look of a car but do not really think about taking my drivers licence (and I just turned 30 as you know). I don't know... we've always been an odd mix but this saturday really got me thinking about it and if our life improves economically speaking I have decided I will get my drivers licence next year.
Anyway he owns 4 Alfa Romeo cars and is part of Alfa Romeo fan club organizations and goes with the members to events etc. I guess its the same as me and lolita... because some might wonder "why so many cars"... but if thought in the same way i guess everyone understands why.
Anyway this year the Circuit organization called in the Alfa Romeo clubs and everyone with a car older than X age could participate in a old car parade in the track. I thought it was a fabulous idea and told my dad I REALLY wanted to be his co-pilot for the day.
I woke up early, around 8 am and left the house at 8.30. The meeting point was near the Arrábida bridge:
I was the first one to arrive and my dad was the 4th.
This is one of my dad's cars, the one we were in, an Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GT
We finally left the meeting point at around 11am.
When we arrived at the parking / show room sort of space it was full of Porsches and other Alfa Romeo's were already there as well. There were so many cars!
We went for a walk, watched a bit of the races and had lunch.
We later gathered again in order to get in the track. I made a vídeo of the "parade" from our own car but I haven't uploaded it so I'm using someone else's video to show how it was, what it felt like. It's was fun (especially in dad's super old car that made a ton of noises... from everything haha, dad's car was one of the oldest ones there, top 10 if I dare to say.
It was a lot of fun even though we couldn't drive very fast for all the obvious reasons.
I'll leave you with photos of my favorite cars of the day:
I spent some time resting with my familly and we then got ready to leave again at 6pm.
My mom and her friends had arranged for a bimby machine demonstration. If you do not know Bimby is a kitchen robot that cuts and cooks very fast making life easier for those who own it. The major problem with the machine is the price since it costs around 900 euro.
We got in the subway right away.
My older brothers apartment is in the sto ovideo area, the end of the subway's yellow line. It's a nice double bedroom apartment.
When we got there, the bimby lady was already there. We started the demo right away. My mother got all the ingredients she asked her to buy except for salt! Salt is such a basic ingredient that she just forgot! It seems funny now but it wasn't so funny to have to wait for her to go buy it at that time. haha
Bimby is a sort of kitchen robbot that processes but also cooks. Food does not look as tasty when chopped to pieces does it?
This is just fruit. The idea was to make sorbet.
We were all eating some and Mari was staring so we gave her a bit. She loved it!
Bimby made:
- fruit sorbet
- steamed eggplant with minced meat
- lasagne
- chouriço bread
We definitely ate too much. I ended up bringing home food which we had for lunch the next day. Everything was marvelous and I felt like buying a bimby for myself but i just can't afford it unfortunately.
This is the view from the home's balcony. When we got there it was light outside and when we left it was night time.
So this was my weekend. A very strange weekend for me since I do not drive nor do I cook. But it was a blast!
I hope you liked reading about my weekend.
Jo
