la la la back into frills

Hello everyone,

Well I haven't been feeling very girly or pretty lately so for a while there I kinda saw myself take more interest in dolls than myself (visually speaking, not .. you know what i mean).

DOLLS
So the first thing I did when the year started was buy a new blythe doll. I went for a custom blythe doll this time as I never really owned one and I don't have the guts to have one of my dolls customized for some reason. She's a simply vanilla doll and she has got new chips, she was carved, sanded, and re-rooted. Basically she looks like anything but a simply vanilla blythe now unless you count the bleached white hair as being the same as blonde, in that sense, yes they could be the same doll. haha I really find this customization thing interesting.
Here she is, isn't she stunning? Me and my mom have been making clothes for her and the store lately so she now has a ton of winter appropriate wear. I'm thinking of naming her "Neve".
So right after she arrived we had a meeting scheduled so the timing was perfect! It was a blythe community meeting but one of the girls only had bjd so I also took Aléxia with me. It was a lot of fun! I organized it so I thought it would be fun to do a giveaway. I ended up giving away stuff that i never used but of which i own nothing more so I must get spares when i go to Japan. They have a ton of mini stuff there I cannot find here.

All the girls present. You can see there were other dolls too.
My Aléxia looks ridiculously tall and she wasn't even standing!
I am also planning on partially or totally moving my girls's home to another are of my house. I am thinking about creating a new work / doll hobby / sewing / diy space in the office floor.
The reason is my daughter living in my walk in closet / office room. It's a Baby room with a closet and a desk at the moment and its full of baby things. Also having a desktop, paper and general stuff around just helps create more dust and that doesn't bring any good. So I'm thinking moving my stuff for a few years is a good idea. I'm probably going to have to buy another shelf so a trip to IKEA is necessary. But I'm still thinking on how to save the most as possible while creating something nice.
After moving I will however finally have a little house for my little blythe (little pet shop versions but who cares!) dolls that are still nrfb.
I already got a little something, this came with a collection that Planeta Agostini is now selling. The first number is always cheap and they they strip you of all your cash with the next issues haha so I just got this one.

LOLITA
I received some money this christmas. I think it was the first time in my entire life (I mean since I was born, literally) that I got over 40 euros as a money present (and that would be in the rare lucky years). Strangely it wasn't even from my parents but my inlaws. They wanted to thank me for giving them a grandchild I suppose. It was quite funny because when they handed me the money they looked at my husband and said "Look, this is for her to spend on whatever she wants!" -haha
So after spending some on bills (i'm just a nice girl like that haha) and on a trip to Lisbon (to meet the local lolitas) and getting my blythe doll I did end up getting some lolita things too. I think my friend lucythewhite sometimes gets panic attacks and thinks I'm leaving lolita but then her enthusiasm and friendship just makes lolita sparkle so much again and I end up spending too much when i should be putting money aside for my daughter's future. (Ok, I am doing that but I could have put a lot more instead of spending on dresses!)
So here's the things I bought this year:

Innocent World angel tights (black) / Innocent World London stripe jsk (brown) / Atelier Pierrot chiffon op (teal)

Grimoire Verum vitail and musée tights & Offbrand otk sweet strawberry socks (white)
I have a couple more things waiting on the mail  but I'll keep those a secret. *shss*

By the time the first meeting (of these of course) was scheduled I was not excited. I didn't even have time to fix my hair and I didn't even care enough to wear a wig. I was that excited to wear lolita out again. It sounds terrible but that's the truth. So I just picked up an op (because you don't have to coordinate them mostly) and went to meet the girls. I had fun but I really would have had as much or more fun wearing a tshirt. Or that was what I was feeling at the moment.

By the time we had the next meetup I was getting more excited. I planned the coord that morning in time and then my day was ruined by someone (doesn't matter) and I considered not attending. I did attend but decided not to wear lolita. I think the girls were a bit disappointed but I had a blast while not in lolita. Damn the cookies were tasty! haha

We just had our last meetup in my time after the start of the new year and I did put some effort this time. I do not plan outfits before of time (ok sometimes I might in the night before!) and I do not take more than 1 hour to get ready (including taking a bath) which sounds totally normal to me except when I listen to other lolitas talk about getting ready (ex: kawaii tv episode with the nyc lolitas - 2 hours??? Putting on 7 pairs of tights on before leaving the house? It puzzles me. But maybe that is why some girls look so damn good all the time, they care. :X)
This means that my year resolutions are already not being respected.
Anyway I was inspired by my Atelier Pierrot and grimoir tights arriving and I wanted to try them on right away so I wore this outfit. I really like it even if that wig does make look older.

So how am I feeling atm? I don't know.
I get these ups and downs lately and I change my mind all the time. I am excited about some spring releases, both in dolls and clothes and I shall talk about those in my next post.
I am also expecting some more lolita clothes and planning some trips as well.

At the moment I'm just more focused on being a mom, I am so in love with my kid it's not even funny.
She's just a cutie (oh yeah and babies do smell nice indeed).
If there's anything you'd like me to post about, let me know.

Love,
Jo

  1. Even if you got ready fast, you still look beautiful!
I think it helps that you know to deside a outfit quick :) I am happy to see you still take the time to dress lolita with your baby ^^

    1. Thank you Leyla. I wish i did have the patience or discipline to plan outfits, to even make a piece for a particular outfit or look for a shirt to match a dress, things like that. I just don't and then i'll never have outfits that become really memorable, i just look ok I suppose. But considering my age and size I'm still pretty happy.
Yeah in between work, assignments and a baby i still manage. But that's only because I have a fantastic husband who gives me one day off on weekends to just go out with the girls.

I hope these ups and downs will change soon, and that you will feel better! And very sweet of your inlaws that they gave you some money to spend on yourself ^_^

Your dolls look so pretty, and I think the name 'Neve' is quite beautiful, and would suit her perfectly. I'm completely loving her eyes and matching outfit :D

My inlaws are the best, I love them so much, as if they were my step parents i suppose.
