There are a lot of days that we are kind of wasting. Well to be honest just leaving the house costs money, when we go to Osaka we spend 20 euros just in transport to spending time home isn't as silly if you take that into consideration.
So basically we stayed in during days 10 and 11 with the exception of dining out and going grocery shopping. So yes... food food and more food. Ready?
Day 10
(at Oji)
 |
| While eating we always watch tv. That day they were playing the ice skating featured bits again. Won't complain, i really enjoy ice skating. |
 |
| Mushroom soup. Yes in the morning. Why not? It was soo good! |
We then just went back to our room and browsed the net. I was probably chatting with some of you. I also slept a ton. haha
 |
| Lunch! Onigiri, kimchi and Udon. |
 |
| Afternoon snack: "Parito arabiki sauseji" haha parito because when you eat it its crunchy and snaps and the japanese believe that the corresponding sound is "parite" or something. LOL |
So all i did was basically hang out indoors and eat. So the next event of the day was dinner of course haha. Mom and dad took us to another familly style restaurant. I had told them the only thing i missed was eating a steak so we went to a place that served them called Gusto.
 |
| The restaurant sign. Looks like a place where you eat healthy food or something... |
 |
| The Menu was huge and everything looks (and probably tastes) delicious. It's insane! |
 |
| "What should we get?" |
 |
| The corny seating. The very corny seating... |
 |
| The salad, of course. |
 |
| My steak. It was sooooo damn good!!!!!! |
 |
| Self service bar. You could drink whatever you want and as much as you want. Juice, water, tea, coffee, milk... etc etc. |
 |
| Dessert. It was great as well. Stuff looks really elegant here i mean for regular chain restaurants. |
 |
| Don't know why this is sideways. That's the room we were staying in. |
So then it was bed time, we chatted and watched tv as we usually do every night there and then just went to bed. We had no big plans for the next day, just staying home and getting ready for your last trip I suppose.
DAY 11
(at Oji)
Waking up was always fabulous. Not only did my back start getting really straight from all the futon sleeping and it was always warm but also because I knew mom would have something great for breakfast as usual. That normally meant....
 |
| more Pizza toasts!!!!!! and matcha cappucino. |
After breakfast I was still feeling sort of sleepy and lazy so I just spent some time at the pc... who knows? Maybe I was even talking to "you".
 |
| The computer I use when I visit my in laws. |
Then I decided it was time to turn into house wife mode and I cleaned the room and futon. I did just that and then, instead of putting it away I just laid it down because I knew someone would eventually take a nap. I also washed some clothes and put them to dry.
 |
| Again: our room, looking somewhat tidy (you have no idea how messy it could get!) |
The mom asked my husband if he could go get some groceries and I never skip the chance to do that. I love grocery shopping in Japan. Everything is so small in portions and there's odd looking and also incredibly tasty looking food that we don't see in my country. That and there's always sushi and sashimi which always makes me drool. And oddly flavored chips and tons of animation characters on packages for some reason.
 |
| even carrots look a bit different |
Then we returned and had something for lunch. Yes these are regular plates in that house. They do not have plate sets like we do but a ton of one of a kind plates. Its something odd for us but not really for them I suppose.
 |
| Japanese noodles with dried "bonito" flakes and veggies... and tonkatsu sauce of course. Yum |
Then it was time to start getting ready for the night bus trip. Mom was worried about the cold and she gave us these. These are heat packs or patches. They are rectangular shaped white pads with some substance on the inside to place over your inner clothes and under the outer ones. It keeps you warm for hours, 12or more hours. It's crazy.
 |
| and of course they can come in a ridiculous looking package as everything else. |
 |
| After lunch we always have coffee but this time I had a treat, KFC chocolate cake! |
 |
| These are fish eggs. Mom always shows me odd food when she gets some. Also since they are expensive and they love its taste its considered something really awesome to have at home for some reason and she thinks it'll make me happy. haha |
I had gotten some cds the previous days. I don't think i told you that? Well anyway 2nd hand cds in Japan can be very cheap if very old and not as popular but also very expensive if they are still popular. So I tried to get cheaper ones. I got the following:
 |
| Shiina Ringo (x3) and Buck-Tick (x2) |
 |
| Then it was time to head over to the train station. We have to catch a bus for that. Every trip is 2 euros each and every time we want to go somewhere its inevitable. |
We arrived at the train station where the bus to Tokyo departures from as well, with a bit of time to waste. As it was dinner time we went to a nearby "italian" fast food restaurant called "Italian Tomato Café Jr.".
I just ordered some random pasta and we ate. It was ok but nothing spectacular.
 |
| what i had for dinner |
 |
| The front of the restaurant. |
 |
| This is what the Oji station surroundings look like. |
 |
| I got some karepan (curry bread) for a snack on the bus. I love these and they are everywhere! |
We then headed over to the waiting spot and it was freezing! The bus seemed to be a little late and since they are no warnings we were actually thinking that it might have been canceled without us knowing. But then it eventually arrived and we could finally get it. We ended up having a spot in the lower level which is my husband's favorite. Its confortable, bigger and there's the door and toilet just next to us. The bad thing is the height, damn those ceilings are low.
We were supposed to be separated so half of the way i sat with a Japanese girl. But later we assumed nobody would be sitting next to my husband so i moved seats. It was an ok ride actually.
 |
| The inside of the bus. |
And then we slept and slept and slept some more and eventually it was a new day and we were in a new city.
Stay tuned for the next episodes!
(aka I'm so sorry for the delay!)
that first thing looks so yummy! dunno what it is, but i'm sure it's tasty

EliminarSchau Essen! I've tried other sausages but those are my fave brand! Yummmm!
ResponderEliminarI love shopping in Japan too! I always end up wasting my money on some delicious junk food instead of the healthy stuff.
That's a very fancy Gusto! I've been to that chain a lot but I've never seen one with leopard print seats lol XD
I'm happy to see you posting again! Looking forward to more <3

I love the crunch! I must admit even though it sounds odd that one of the things I look forward to when visiting Japan is eating schau essen in the morning haha
EliminarWell the healthy stuff is more expensive anyway...
It was my first time at Gusto, I loved it. It's so damn neat that you can drink all the cofee you want!
I promise to post more often again. <3

ResponderEliminarI'm a bit disapointed about the italian restaurant XD I think when I'll go in Japan I'll miss too much the italian food ahah!
Well in its defense it was a chain fast food place.... I never have italian here, i suppose its nothing like the real italian food. I'd love to visit Italy just to eat, does it sound weird?
EliminarI'm glad you do, i was posting and thinking "damn this must sound boring!"
So many food as always, I feel like I know everything about japanese cuisine, thanks to your posts :P. And OMG those patches!! I need them here, I'm always so cold ;_;

Yay another update! Yeah I agree, after a while you don't want to spend anymore just on travel and plus it's always good to stay in sometimes. And I never had a breakfast like that with pizza toast and matcha o.o
ResponderEliminarAnd why did you have to be separated on the bus?
~ Kieli ~
Psst: Updates on day 12 and 13 are also up!
ResponderEliminarI sometimes have odd breakfasts... today i ate soup and i'm in Portugal already. haha
Well basically the tickets were almost sold out and we got the last two but apparently someone paid but ended up not going so we got lucky!
Portugal and Japan must be so different huh xD
