Japan 2014 - First days

Hello everyone,

I have not posted in a while and I apologize for that. Unfortunately for some reason i've been out of love with many things and I have been wanting change and to disconnect so I haven't been keen on updating this.

I am on holiday, visiting relatives in Japan again. I never ended up finishing the report for last year's trip and so this year i'll try to keep posts shorter and simpler so i do not end up doing the same again.

The Trip

It was not the best experience ever. First because I have apparently been affected by the horrific events in aviation and the night before flying I had a mild panic attack... which is childish and ridiculous but cannot be helped. Then there's the long hours, i always wonder how (mostly women) women look so pretty at airports etc when i look so horrible! I mean... well dresses, hair looks like they came out of the hair dresser... makeup... the works. I am wearing something un-interesting but confortable, hair is sticky and horrible as usual, makeup is gone and all i can see are dark circles and then i'm sweating and smell like it. I try everything like having another tshirt, socks and underwear but that means i end up with double the sweaty items. Much envy and admiration!

Lastly, travelling with a kid. Now i get why they give us priority, it still does not make up for the disconfort... it is not glamorous.
So i did not sleep for all the time I was getting here basically.

We left on the 26/07 after lunch and arrived  27/07 at 5pm Japan time.

Sunday, 27

My inlaws were waiting for us and of course the excitement to see their grand daughter was big. It was adorable.
We then stopped at a restaurant where I ordered a set that I could share with Mari, she liked Udon a lot so she ate it all. I was not very hungry to be honest. When we left Mari was cranky. Some familly restaurants have some souveniers for sale in the entrance and my mother in law gave her this tiny dog plushie which she adores.

We then headed to their place to take stuff out of our bags, hand out souvenirs and relax.
Mari, being na animal lover imediately noticed the familly cat who had a "oh no not again" moment.
We drank some coffee and ate snacks and I even got to experimente the familly's new massage chair.

After that we all just crashed. I was so tired, I really do not know how i managed to stay cheerful. What a weekend!

Monday, 28

Waking up was easier than I thought. Actually the idea of having breakfast in Japan probably helped waking up and when I saw these I must have smiled like an idiot. Still my favorite sausages in the whole world!
Mari had corn soup, bread... tomatoes, a lot of tomatoes... apparently she's having a tomato phase now and the familly cherry tomato tree is now without them, she literally ate them all these last 2 days.
After breakfast we got in the car and went shopping. The first day is always to go grocery/meds/clothes/relevant item shopping and this time wasn't an exception.
This is where I am right now, in a place where trees surround everything and the most exciting place to go is the small local supermarket., Sango (Nara).

We went to the baby/kids store which has a lot of adorable stuff and where Mari got pampered: new toy, new clothes, swimming suit, shoes... and of course other less exciting things babies need.

After that, my husband went to get a cheap haircut while we went to the 100yen store to get paper for Mari to paint/write on because she loves painting. Mari also played around the building since it has some other things such as UFO machines because those are literally everywhere in Japan.

Lunch time meant yummy stuff again, we got lucky and my inlaws took us to the sushi restaurant. Mari ate egg sushi, udon again and this sort of soup/pudding thing called Chawanmushi which I also always have. Had my first beer while here which felt nice because sushi and beer go well together.
Cheap sushi = love.

The supermarket was the next stop. Mari got to say hi to peko chan again this year but seemed less impressed this time.

I love going to supermarkets in foreign countries, there is just so many diferente unknown products! Also I find that the variety in Japan is immense, I honestly do not know how people pick from all the options available.
The day ended with us going jogging, taking a bath, eating and relaxing again.
My feet got completely ruinned from running those 4km though, I brought shoes that are not my normal running pair and they felt small for me even though they are... well mine, my size... I have 4 blisters all around.

I am determined to have a more relaxing trip this year and to think less about my hobbies. I think it has been a good change so far, I feel calm and peaceful... just, happy.

  2. Own jo you now I'm simple minded so if you're happy I'm happy also!

I'm glad you're getting distracted and amused, despite what you told me about lack of more "glamorous" thing's you love, but oh well sometimes the simple things of life are the best!

Please do continue on blogging ♥

  3. Yay, I am so glad to see a new blogpost from you! ^o^ I've missed your blogging!

It's not strange to be affected by what has been going on in the news, I can totally understand! You're flying very soon after all these things happened. So no need to be ashamed or anything.
Also, don't feel bad about not looking like a superstar on the plane. I always go for most comfortable. No make up, no dresses, no pretty hair. I consider it much more relaxed than all dressed up.

Awww, the picture of your in-laws seeing Mari again is just so cute! <3

I also love foreign super markets! The variety of things is just so immense!

Good to have you back in the blogsphere! ^^

    1. The problem is not that i opt for confortable clothes etc, the thing is if i wanted to be like them i could not! I cannot see how i can look like that during this sort of travel. :P I want one to teach me the secret behind it except i'd never ask for such a thing because its sily haha.

I am so glad you missed the posts, that means a lot to me and makes me happy <3

  4. Hey mamacita! I'm glad you guys arrived safe (i know it was stressful my dear....the world is becoming a crazy ass place and we mightbe at risk at all times....but you gotta chill on that, girl!) and that you're planning on having a somewhat restful holiday- you deserve it my dear. Tho it's sad that you're not gonna hunt for hobby related stuff, i think it's a good change of pace- don't forget "Enjoy the little things" (yes,i am quoting Zombieland...sue me,ok?XD) .Have fun, don't go run to the creepy forest on your own, don't let Ma-chan murderlize your inlaws cat and, last but not least, REST!!! (and enjoy the time you have there ok?)

Peachie says hi! Missing you lots

    1. My mom says I'm a black/white sort of person but I see you might be a challenger. I said I am going to try not thinking about it unless i am at it which i will do tomorrow. Gonna see if there are still bargains and check the new collections.
I am considering running up the Hill one day with my husband though!

Thank you for the love my friend! Kisses to both of you

  5. Sorry to hear you had a difficult time with the flight. I'm hoping I'll be okay, I am terrified of flying usually but I don't think it could get much worse. How does Mari feel about flying?

I love supermarkets in other countries too! So much! I always stop at the convenience stores in airports, I just can't resist.

Looking forward to reading the rest of your Japan posts, so glad you're feeling happy <3

    1. Mari was ok, she cried twice but she usually does before falling asleep. She's not terrible so that is good.

I am feeling lively, i'm glad too.. maybe i should move here after all. :\

    2. LOL! Yeah, laziness is my greatest opponent too Dx And when a lot of time passes, I just force myself to go back and post it anyway and just apologize that it wasn't up sooner xD And yes, I noticed! I hope you finish this trip's posts!
