I joined a facebook Lolita Fashion blog group recently. The whole idea is to decide on themed posts everyone can take part in. I found it to be a good idea to keep this blog running since I never know what to post. If you have a lolita blog, check it out. You might like it and want to join too. <3
This week's theme is "Your Lolita Inspiration".
I am supposed to dwel in that complicated topic... it is complicated indeed.
I am of course inspired by all of you and there are a couple of people who's photos more frequently make my jaw drop of course. The list is a lot bigger than the one i made a while ago but I'm going to link you to that post that was made then. I am also mainly inspired by the Gothic and Lolita Bibles, Kera mags, etc etc... Since that is pretty obvious and since I have posted about people already and didn't want to repeat myself I'll just talk about other things that inspire me in one way or the other:
My city
I just love my city, I find that it is stunning and I often say that if I could, i'd love to be a tourist and visit Oporto for the first time because it has to take people's breath away. The arquitecture in my country but mostly in my city inspires me and I have a soft spot for architectural prints which makes sense.
If you'd like to visit, let me know. We have a spare room and love having visitors. <3
Antiques/Art
I didn't like antiques for a long time. Growing up I was always surrounded by old looking things and of course when i was a teen i thought i liked modern things better but then something changed. I love looking for inspiration in antiques and old looking items.
I did grow up as a art follower and lover, helping my mom clean her brushes and travelling with her to visit museums and art events so all that visual information has surely inspired me even without me always being aware of it.
Porcelain/Fine China
Along with antiques as a whole my house also always had porcelain everywhere so I didn't really enjoy it as a teen. I now adore it and wish i had more space for it. I will post about house hold items in the future, I love decor. The artwork on most porcelain can be inspiring. If I am surrounded by them i will often feel like putting together a certain applique or make a coordinate using a certain floral piece, etc etc.
Christmas and Celebrations
I always did love elegant parties and i think my love for golden items comes from that as well as Christmas.
I am influenced and inspired by beautiful garments (brand releases and the mooks for exemple) and for photos I see online of other lolita wearers mostly. I love sparkling chandeliers and intricate jewelry, party arrangements and so this sort of party mood does inspire me.
Movies and Books
The land of the imagination is usually where people take their ideas and inspiration from isn't it? I'm no different. I will sometimes watch/read a gloomy movie/book and feel inspired to put on coordinate A or watch/read something goofy and feel like being creative with colors etc. I also get visual inspiration from movies of course. Usually I am most inspired by epoque stories... i am also a huge supernatural story lover so (how predictable!) I love vampires, ghosts and other fiends a lot.
I am completely unispired this week so I hope this isn't as boring as I think it is haha.
Kisses, Jo

ResponderEliminarI think they are pretty normal places to get inspiration from, but i wasn't sure on how to answer this theme.
EliminarI agree with you, that is why i like porcelain so much. I wish i had infinite space so i could get a lot more.
I love your inspirations! Good to see that there are some persons which take inspiration from other sources than lolita itself!
ResponderEliminarI also love to take some inspiration from antiques and of course art.
I've never been to Portugal, but your love and pride for your city make me wanna go to visit Oporto!
Thank you so much for your comment!
EliminarWell I think its inevitable to take inspiration from things around us. Of course other people's coordinates inspire me too.
I do love Oporto and the offer is real, if you want to visit just let me know.
