Lolita Blog Carnival: week 8 "Wardrobe Challenge"

I joined a facebook Lolita Fashion blog group recently. The whole idea is to decide on themed posts everyone can take part in. I found it to be a good idea to keep this blog running since I never know what to post. If you have a lolita blog, check it out. You might like it and want to join too. <3

This week's theme is "Wardrobe Challenge".

I thought about using a staple piece that fits what i percieve as "me" but I then realised that there are very few pieces that I have worn 5 or more times. The reason might be because those piece usually are a bit more dressy than others. I also now know that to me sweet lolita is something that feels more casual to me than gothic and my classic pieces do. For all these reasons the item I picked for this post was Angelic Pretty's Sweet Ribbon Strawberry shirring jsk (black)

I bought this dress (+ matching socks) during my first trip to Japan in Osaka. I was a bit bigger then and full shirring seemed to still be one of the few options for me. When I tried it on it seemed very comfortable and because it was the black version it felt very natural to me. I ended up buying Ap sandals and a headband just to wear it then and it proved to be a good buy because as I said, I have worn it more than a big part of my other dresses.
I'm going to try to post the 5 outfits in a chronological manner.

#1 Breaking all lolita rules due to heat.
#2 Winter time, paired with an AP coat.
#3 Making sure its decently coordinated for a meetup.
#4 Casual outfit for an event, working.
#5 Last outfit with the set paired with ap cardigan.
It's the first time I see these closely and together and I came to the conclusion that because I don't plan ahead of time I do not make a lot of effort in coordinating when i'm trying to be comfortable and that I always go the easy way: picking something black, pink or red to match the dress so none of these are very "outside the box" but do they need to be? Lately its as if people (and I have found myself in this situation) have to change something from previous outfits or be creative on purpose. I think by sticking to my own taste that has been a bit difficult for me to do unconsciously.
I'm so glad i could participate in this week's challenge and proud that I did so within the time frame, yay!

As for other things... well the community's theme after "skirts" was "head accessories". I decided to post them separately (or at least try) and these are the photos:
Mostly Moitié because quite frankly their lace is my favorite but I  also made some.
Ask about something if you are curious about where they are from. <3
A little bit too much black, right?
I would love to add the matching headdress or a strawberry piece to my collection to go with the jsk above.

That's all for today, I hope you enjoyed it.
Kisses, Jo

  1. Strawberry ribbon <3 I've got the skirt in black!!
It's very pretty but I haven't worn it so much, let alone making five different outfits! ;_; I know I should wear it more!!

As for the hair accessories *ç* how many beautiful bows, headdress and clips you have!
MMM lace is SO wonderful, I hope to have a big collection of Moitié pieces in the future, too!
(Now I just have the Alchemy OP >_<)

Don't say that sweet doesn't suit you! All substyles suit you very well, for what I can see *_* you're also an inspiration for many girls!

    1. oh yay i'm so glad to see someone else owning this print in the same colorway. I often find that it isn't as loved as other AP prints especially in the black colorway which i don't understand at all. <3
Oh i'm jealous, i like the alchemy op, it reads as something very casual! I'd love to own it, especially the long in black x bordeaux(chiffon version). I really love accessories a bit too much. The girls in my local comm don't seem to invest as much in accessories but i cannot help it. I haven't even worn everyone out yet.
I think i pull off some sweet but its not something that suits me as much as other styles... i think in my case age has something to do with it, i am 29 years old afterall but that's really nice of you to say! I have fun wearing sweet and as i said, strangely its sooo much easier to wear and coordinate than some other things are for me. So many colors to play with. :D
      Love,
      Jo
