Japan trip - Day 15

Day 15 is a special day, one to be spent indoors usually. It is no other than new years eve day.

I woke up feeling a lot better and this only improved when mom brought us breakfast. It was something i had never eaten before, pre-made buns with my favorite sausages, lettuce, ketchup and wasabi.
Green tea cappuccino and the buns.
After cleaning the room very carefully, I usually clean the room before new year (regular and chinese as well), mom invited us to go food shopping.
We got in the car and I was very surprised to see most stores and businesses were completely closed. It felt like a ghost area.
Mom wanted to buy some special meat that is supposed to be ultra delicious. She had intended to shop at the most famous store in the region and kept saying how fabulous the meat was and how famous the store was so I was somewhat excited.
When we arrived there I could not believe my eyes! The place was completely packed! They had a parking service and the parking was a vacant lot in front of the building. I have to remind you all that this thing is in the middle of nowhere, not in the center of some amazingly famous and populated city.
Kawai meat. Look at the people waiting in line!
They also had a side stall with different products for sale but people only wanted the meat. I was getting really curious at this point.
Outside stall.
After a while mom came back carrying a bag with some meat. I wanted to take a peak but i would get my chance in the car. They even had a vending machine so we all got something for the ride.
Vending machine.
And this is the parking lot, isn't this crazy? o.o
Kawai butcher parking lot.
So finally after much anticipation i could see what was bought. It looked delicious sure but also... normal japanese meat. I suppose i know nothing about japanese cuisine and meat in general (I don't cook very often at home because i'm not that good at it, my husband is much better than I am) but it did look like teir typical style of meat that can be bough at any supermarket.
Kawai bought beef.
We also went to the supermarket to get some other necessary items and also to my favorite chinese restaurant in Oji to get a special new years eve obento box. It was huge and made me curious. They also included some sake. <3

When we got home mom wanted to show me that it was delicious so she prepared a bit of meat. It was super tender but very fatty. I remember thinking that my brother would probably want to destroy its yummyness by cutting off all the fat as he always has been doing since we were kids. I think mom would be very sad. haha not only because in her eyes this is what delicious meat means but also because this meat costs a ton a kg. I am thinking 100 euros. I'll ask and then correct this info. But anyway ridiculously expensive!
Cooked Kawai meat treat.
We had not had lunch so we ate some delicious tempura soba and salad. Yummy yum yum!
My mother in law really is a great cook!
After lunch we always watch a bit of tv and play around with the fattest and one of the cutest cats ever to set foot on eart, Mi-chan. He wasn't very cooperative so we just pet him and took a shot. He is huge, he is so huge that when we came back out two cats (who are not tat small) looked tiny! They always look tiny when we return from Japan.

Mi-chan's size when compared to a pack of smokes.
In the afternoon my mother in law always takes a nap for health related reasons so we move to the other side of the house and just chill out a bit. We take naps, we browse the internet, i chat with some of you, i post on facebook etc... and we fold clothes and do all those very interesting daily life things.
Basically on new years eve it becomes even more ridiculous since all one does is literally wait for dinner time.
That time came and we went back to the living room.
Mom had already set the table and the tv was on. Someone checked the newspaper and we could clearly see who was performing this year. (every year there are several live shows where bands and singers perform; j-pop, j-rock, traditional music, etc)
I found out that (due to the tv series on NHK having an intro song by her) that shiina ringo was performing so i was waiting for that. Mom likes her too so we both waited.
Japanese beer. This one was a gift from my husband's friend, it is made by Kanagawa university. Interesting.
Finally, shiina was on. She appeared in a very 50's looking coat with baloon sleeves, completely in crimson red. She sounded like the angel she is.
Shiina ringo performing carnation

Under the coat was this ballerina looking tutu dress, she looked stunning and was very energetic as usual.
After a couple of performances and a bit of joking around in familly the time was finally there! People usually go to temples for good luck but due to my mother in laws health we can't go so we watch on tv instead.
After hitting the bells people are allowed in the temples and they are packed. It was very interesting to see that a foreign couple was among the ones that got to the temple first. Let me remind you that it was freezing cold.
People entering the temple for good luck.
It was finally time to dig in! I could finally see what was in the obento!
Chinese food obento for new year. A bit of everything

Level 2 of the obento

Level 3 - nobody ate the pidan eggs XD

New Year's Eve table view, very colorful a lot of fun!
And that was my day, after that we just went to bed and fell asleep once more. Not a very interesting day to read about but i really enjoyed myself.

Anyway because clearly that's what some people want to hear about, i'll leave you with photos of the things I got during my Tokyo trip. I got less prints than I wanted but that got to second plan when i found my all time dream bag. Expensive but i was happy and i actually used it there already. Haven't used it ever since which is sad, though. Anyway enjoy.

  1. I absolutely love your buyings! The dresses are so elegant and stunning!<3

Also love the bags, especially the Iron Gate bag. I have the Gothic Arch bag myself and that one was already hard to come by!

And Triple Fortune is lovely, I'm still hesitant to buy from their site, but if I see all the lovely things, I need to get over it.
Is Triple Fortune quality worth the money?^^

Greetings and have a lovely week!

    1. Thank you Josine and thank you for taking the time to comment, i really appreciate it.
That Iron Gate bag is my dream bag and it was just amazing to find it in Tokyo. It has scuffs and the previous owner lost the keys and the price was still insane but buying it made me happy and that's what matters.
I love triple fortune, its my favorite head accessory brand and i like the quality even though some people might not like the use of rachel lace. I think its worth the price compared to regular lolita brand prices for head gear but only you can answer that.

I hope you have a fantastic end of week too! kisses

This is such a stupid life, work work and no free time, if I didn't see your post on egl, like "if you read my blog please comment or I'll kick your ass" :-D I would't remember to have a look and I love reading your blog! What happens when you stop doing things you love?

  4. Awww the shopping ! I have to admit that I was one of the people waiting for that xD

The BTSSB dress is simply beautiful! It looks like a pretty good impulse buy. Both of the MmMs are very pretty too and the Atelier Pierrot dress is very pretty too! It looks longer that most dresses, right?
The bags are awesome too! And I loved the shoes and the boots! Tell me, do you know if they sell overseas ?

As usual, is good to know that you had such a good time! <3

    1. haha well there was a bit more shopping but this was the crazy part for sure. Just keep looking. <3

The Atelier Pierrot looks longer than it actually is. It's about the same size as all the other ones. But now if i want length i have the underskirt for that yay!
I'm pretty sure they are on rakuten maybe you can search for them there! I love their stuff too, i didn't even bring my favorite pair because they ran out of the LL size.
Thank you adriana! You're a sweetheart

    2. Yes, the amount people are willing to pay for good quality food items in Japan is insane. Definitely something people (myself included) do not understand in my country.

  6. Tsu's mom is such a nice person, the food she made looks great *I'm so hungry right now :p*

For a moment I thought that obento box was just for one person, I was like "OMG how can they eat so much stuff!!!!" ahahah. New year's eve is all about getting drunk for me, so my night was quite different!

I love everything you bought, specially the brown shoes. I always wanted these: http://pupe.ameba.jp/item/JiWWUfVbgbek/Ci7tv5DQQzMQ/ they are the same brand as the ones you bought!

You posted this entry so fast that I didn't have the time to comment the last one! I will just say here that I love your dolls and their pretty clothes! :)

    Bisou!

    1. She's amazing, i can't wait for you to meet her!
No way in heck i'd eat all that, who do you take me for. I'm fat but not a monster hahaha XD
Yeah there was no partying and getting drunk events while in Japan. When we go lets go clubbing on our own XD (very expensive though maybe we'd better not).
Oh those are so cute! They look like they are not people sized but dollfie shoes or something though. o.o
I actually liked another pair of boots more but the L was too tight and they had run out of LL so... and i almost got the brown in ivory too but i had no more luggage space.

Yes I am trying to post once a day so i can finally end this madness!

      Love you Lucy <3

  7. That first picture with the buns... I've just had lunch, but I feel hungry again XD I love sausages and by telling me that those are *the* sausages... must try them! *.*

That cat (Mi-chan) is the same that you had already post about before, right? It's... HUGE! XD
I didn't know what obento boxes were (had heard about them, but didn't know what they were about) and they seem so pratical, such an easy way to provide and pack food for the family, still looking nice ^^

    1. Yes the cat is the same, he's a star but huge haha
Well that's not a good example of a bento box, its supposed to be like a small tupperwear you just put food in and take to work with you or something.
Thank you for leaving a comment Alda. Kisses

That cat is really cute too! So fat xD As far as those Million Year Eggs go...are they even safe to eat? o_O Are you supposed to eat them?

Those dresses and shoes are to die for ♥

  10. Haha they are safe to eat but we are not forced to eat them, there's no tradition of that in japan or anything like that.
Oh good taste, shiina has always been a favorite of mine. :D
Thank you, i'm glad you like them. I still haven't worn most of those items though, which is ridiculous.
