Day 6 - Shopping for T, leaving Nara

Woke up feeling awesome that day. Remembered being nervous about the day after but it going away really fast. Took a shot of my breakfast as per usual and I got lucky and had another matcha cappucino and a pizza toast. That cup of coffee is T's but you can tell that the coffee mustn't be too terrible by its color.
I had tried to eat the pizza toast using the capuccino's spoon the other day so mom was super nice and cut it in 4 pieces so i could eat it easily.

After getting out dad asked us to take the trash down. I don't know if you know this but their trash system is very organized and clean. It actually kinda makes me still have faith in the world or something of the sort. haha So basically they separate everything but mostly in two: the burnable and the non burnable materials. They each go to a colored bag and that color represents what they have inside as well. After separating garbage and having a full bag we then need to pick them up and take them downstairs. Contrary to what is done in Portugal, trash isn't left in front of the building door or there isn't a huge trashbin in front of each building. Instead they have these cage sort of places where they are places, again, separately. As you can see, cans and other type of material are also separated and places accordingly. Everything is clean and going in there isn't torture or troublesome at all. After this in the beginning of each day (depending on the area) there are cars that come to pick the trash up, each car for each type of trash.

The only plans for the day was to shop for T because he brought almost no clothes thinking he still has some over here. Mom and Dad said. "You have to go to Uniqlo!
So apparently its the fashionable thing to do for people who don't have a lot of cash haha so dad took us there.
It is actually very cheap seeing as the prices are more or less the same as those of H&M and Zara in Portugal.
We picked some shirts, some sweaters, a pair of pants (and he still had to ask them to cut them because he's too short for their sizes (even in Japan omg!)) and I grabed some hats and gloves because its cold and I didn't want to get more sick than I already was.
When we were just leaving the store I saw this huge baddass car parked in front and joked about it. T said: Why does someone who can afford a car like this shop at Uniqlo!?!?! I agreed and took apicture with it for you guys to see. We wanted to make it fast because according to T and his familly usually these cars are Yakuza cars and they wouldn't be very happy if they saw us taking a picture of it so better not risk it. :P

Anyway here's what I for for myself:

- a black beret, left my old one at home and missed it!
- a black and white striped wool cap that matches the only sweater I brought
- a pair of fake leather and fur gloves that match a silly thing I got from Swimmer the day before
- some tights for the concert

When I got home they were all super hysterical saying "the fish is here!" and I honestly have no idea how this country is so food obcessed. And then I'm the one who's big. Not fair. Anyway I must say the word sashimi really made me happy as I adore it. So I went back to my room and waited for dinner while packing for my trip.

I was yet again going to be tricked into eating things that i had told previously to T that i find utterly disgusting and that I didn't want to try at all.

One of the things was Fugu. I know its paranoia but I really find it silly to eat something that can be deadly and pay a huge amount of cash to put yourself in danger. Obviously nothing was going to happen but seeing as I think its just ridiculous I told him I'd rather not eat that delicacy and that it would be even better because then they could have it all for themselves. I was tricked because they game me a sort of surimi stick and after I said it was ok they told me it was Fugu, not cool. XD

The other thing is far more disgusting and even I find it to be so. I highly recommend that you don't check this link if you are impressionable with ugly, slimmy, disgusting looking creatures. Not joking. It's called the "cucumber of the sea" because of its shape and its cut into slices. It tastes a little rough and a bit like detergent and can be a bit sickening if you eat too much but its edible. It's called namako.

The last thing that is a bit disgusting to eat but all of you know of is oyster and they eat them raw. I ate two and it was enough, it really is a bit sickening, just a too strong of a flavor for my palate I'm afraid. I'm a bit ashamed to admite that the previous two are easier to eat than this one, at least for me.
Just thinking about this dinner and what I wrote makes me believe I'm not being fair. The dinner was fabulous, Mom has a gift to make things look very presentable all the time and she has great cooking skills. She also made the sashimi herself and a kickass tasting salad with mayo that i adored.

They pay much attention to table wear and what is to be used with this and that and i find that to be adorable, of course my mom would too if she was receiving guests but I'm not much like that so I always find it to be quite funny and interesting alike.

The supermarket stuff you can find and the ads for pretty much everything are amusing too, its like everything is directed to kids except it isn't. Look at that salt bottle for instance, not only is it pink but its also a panda. Crazy people.

Anyway I didn't feel like dessert so we went back to the room and got all the stuff ready to leave. Dad took us to Oji station again. But this time we weren't taking the train, we would be taking the night bus. Because there was still time left me and T got some reading material. He got a manga volume of god knows what and I got a Kera magazine because I can't read japanese.

The trip on the bus was terrible, neither of us could sleep and we only managed to doze off in the last hours. The trip itself was 8 hours which is very long. We stopped in the way and i got some food because i was starting to get hungry and i felt the need to hidrate as well. Got the usual, onigiri and botteled tea.

I listened to a lot of music, moved a lot, went to the bus's tiny bathroom twice but nothing made me sleep well, terrible night to be honest. Usually T sleeps like a baby and falls asleep in two seconds (not a lie) and this time he didn't even manage to sleep so i think something was wrong with that bus or the oysters were having some effect on our bodies haha.

The only thing that made me feel better was knowing where I was headed and knowing who I was with. He is such a good man my Tsuyoshi, I am very lucky gal.

Anyway took my Portuguese flag with me. It's a tradition I always keep when I go to concerts abroad even though T told me it was corny and they wouldn't know which country it was for. The other thing I took with me was love.
