In case nobody noticed yet, I love bonnets.

Good sunday morning everyone,

Its sunny outside so I might be going for a stroll later. Depends on if i finish all my chores or not but I hope I do. Such a pretty day!
What are your plans?

Anyway yesterday was a sort of interesting day.
My local community had a meeting schedules that i really wanted to take part in. Due to some external elements that I could not control or avoid I was forced to stay home in the end. I was hoping the girls would come by for at least a short visit (maybe a cup of coffee or tea) since the meeting was basically in the end of the street I live in but they never came.
But I was still decked out in Lolita feeling pretty and waiting while doing my house chores (ironing in lolita isn't a lot of fun though, especially when its sunny and warm :x) , playing with my daughter etc. I did lose the bonnet a while after obviously.

Anyway this is what I wore:

Bonnet: Ange (doesn't exist anymore)
Corsage: Atelier Pierrot
Shirt: Metamorphose temps de fille
Dress: Alice and the Pirates
Socks: offbrand (a gift from a friend <3)
Boots: Queens Bee
Accessories: Suppurate System, Miho Matsuda, offbrand

Also I know this might seem odd but i've never been much of a gamer, when there's a game I'm playing I do obcessively play it but other than that I don't experiment with all the games and the consoles etc even though one of my brothers has most of them and can just leave them at my place. So the other day he took the Xbox360 that i admit to have never used once! and left the Wii. I hope i'll use this one a bit at least, he also left the wii fit and a drumm for taiko? I don't know, the whole seem seems really wacky and it takes so much more space than the xbox did.
Well i'll let you know how that goes later.

I hope you enjoyed reading again.
A big kiss and a thank you for commenting from time to time (it makes me happy),
Jo

Loliday winter 2012

Hi everyone!

This time I'm going to post about how I spent this year's winter International Lolita Day. I was the one to organize it this time along with lucythewhite and we decided to go to an hotel in downtown Porto that we really like, the Grande Hotel do Porto. We decided to meet ther and have tea in a private room, play games and do a small giveaway as well.

The waiting room where we spent some time chatting and gathering everyone.
The tea room that they reserved for the group.
We only had tea and scones  but only because most girls wouldn't want to pay for the other,
more expensive, options
The whole group, only one girl missing (and the ones that weren't dressed according to the dresscode).
I wore a simple forest green and black outfit.
I didn't have time to put any makeup on because i was late which was unfortunate
but there are more important things than how one looks when we have resposibilities.
One thing I actually took some time to do was to add a bow to my headdress
and put some pearls and a crown to try and tie it better with the dress.
Takes 10min of one's time and improves an outit significatively.
I should pay more attention to details from time to time.
I looove lolita coats! I adore wearing lolita in the winter because of them and the mufflers and the scarfs and the mittens... I just love winter clothes.
I was wearing:
MmM headdress + offbrand altered bow; Metamorphose shirt, Metamorphose jsk, MmM otk socks, Primark shoes, Innocent World coat, offbrand muffler.

After the meetup we were invited by one of the girls to go to her place and grab a bite for dinner. So we went home, changed clothes and headed over to her place.

We had a blast, it surely was a really nice day.
I hope you can see how much fun we had from the photos and that you enjoyed reading about the Portuguese Lolita Loliday meeting. Girls came from all over the country too.

 Love, Jo

Last meeting appearance?

Hello everyone,

So life has been pretty ectic lately. I am overwhelmed with work and arriving home rather late. This means that i've been tired and a bit absent of anything online related (unless that means 5 seconds here and there and sending emails and research, doing a lot of that lately). I am also finally starting to feel rather beat up from being in my 37th week. That's all for sumarizing what's going on over here.

Anyway the only lolita-related things I can add to this post are the following.
On the 1st of September we had a small gathering. It was scheduled for an animation related event but it was in the fabulous Hard Club. The café / restaurant is located in the top floor and from there we have a view of the rest of the place. Seeing as me and some other people didn't want to pay 5 euros to basically get into a space where you had a tiny corridor with only animation related merchandise for sale, a small area for workshops etc and an auditorium where cosplay competitions and whatnot were being held we just stayed there for the entire time. During that time the girls who are more into that sort of thing could just hang at the event back and forth as they wanted. It ended up being a really nice afternoon and I must recommend that you go to the café/restaurant for snacks, to hang out with friends or even have a meal. It's a good place for that and the staff is very friendly.
I took my blythe dolls with me and some (well most) of their wardrobe so me, Vânia, my brother (yes!) and Annie spent some time discussing my doll hobby and getting them into thousands of new outfits. It was ridiculous, childish and very girly and fun i must say.
It was very hot there so we all had cold beverages and just chatted a lot about this and that.
As I am not very organized unless we're talking work and some other things, I forgot my camera so we only took photos when my husband decided to stop by and join us. That means i only got photos in a very dark area and without much sunlight. It feels nice to wear lolita while i'm in the end of my pregnancy but i always want to ditch the heels and go for comfort.

Inside the Hard Club café/restaurant. Don't you just love the atmosphere?
My outfit was mainly Moitié, except for the jewelry, the headdress which is meta and the shoes which were my second ever pair of loliable shoes!
Group photo. The lovely lady in the right end had already changed into her summer clothes (too hot for lolita) but that doesn't mean our community doesn't want her to be in the photo!<3
*as always let me know if you want this photo removed for some reason!* The next day was what I was excited about though. My friend lucythewhite was organizing a Baby Shower for me and since its not common at all to have those in Portugal I was looking forward to it. So basically I mhat we a list of things that we still have to buy for our daughter and whatnot and people decided to pick what they could afford and whatever they could do to help.

Lucy picked a place that offered a brunch service, it was my first time having brunch and I honestly saw no difference between brunch and lunch. It's not something ordinary people like me experience a lot in my country.
They served a wide variety of things and had an infinite service of natual juices, when i say infinite i mean infinite!
Brunch goodies!
We chatted a lot and had fun even though it was super hot again.

Annie made a personalized package of course.
Baby shower haul! Isn't it impressive?
This is what Carla sent us all the way from Ireland. It was so nice of her, i love everything, thank you!
I'd like to thank everyone who came and also everyone who sent gifts but was unable to come. It made me feel blessed and it was of course a huge help, especially since we are undergoing so many renovations at this time.

I also am attending classes to get ready and while there i realised that i do not own too many baby clothes (which the nurse said its what usually happens) but i actually needed to get more so i went to Primark just to shop for her. I found the most adorable things ever but gosh baby clothes are expensive!
Blanket, bath towel, under garments, kigurumi and pink coat.
In terms of lolita related stuff there's not much to report. I have been focusing on other things and might not be able to afford a lot in the future.
I did however make an effort to get the new bible (45) and midori's book. They arrived this week. I really loved the bible but am not very keen on the midori book. I find that it is lower quality (print wise) than Misako's and also there are some segments that just do not interest me much. I do love it though, i never find that getting books is a waste.
Gothic & Lolita Bible and Midori's Doll Classica.
I found that Primark was filled with interesting accessories and footwear but not really clothes (I never really fall for their clothes lately). I loved them but i don't find them very affordable for primark etc. I'll try them with some outfits and then if i regret getting them i'll just exchange them for some more baby clothes.
Primark black classic heels.
I also got them in red. These are not suede, they are mostly shiny pleather but the color is very striking! Might not match most of my clothes though.
Primark red classic heel shoes.

And that is it for now, not very exciting I know but that's life at the moment.
Love as always, Jo

The birthday month

Hello everyone,

This month was odd for me, there were a ton of birthday parties to attend.

I think the first was a work mate's birthday party. We went to a lovely restaurant that had portuguese food made with a modern twist and a very cool relaxed and elegant atmosphere. I don't usually go to that sort of restaurant with the girls because they are younger and usually nobody wants to spend more than 15 euros on a meal so I usually only go with my husband. It felt nice to go in a group for a change.

The last but most important one was my husband's. It started with us going to the doctor's office (but for a good cause), then i got him a new wrist watch and later I treated him for a dinner at his current favorite Japanese restaurant. It has a pretty pleasant evening actually and I'm sure he was very happy which is what matters.

The second birthday I attended was the one i'm mainly focusing on. Lucythewhite's.
She didn't just have a birthday party, she had two birthday parties that went on throughout the entire weekend. o.o She had a diva birthday.~
The first party was a dinner with all of her friends which was a lot of fun. Then on saturday and sunday we had a lolita sleepover meeting at her place.
This is obviously the one i'm going to post about.

We were asked to go to her place somewhere in the afternoon. Of course i went a bit later since we were going to spend the whole weekend there anyway haha but eventually i got there. She was baking when that happened, making a cake she said so I actually arrived just on time.
Everyone else was already there and all the girls looked really cute!
We took outfit shots and chatted the whole time while checking out the lastest lolita collections and browsing Gothic & Lolita Bibles.
Outfit: Dress (Mary Magdalene) Shirt (Primark), Bolero (Innocent World), Socks/Bag/accessories (offbrand) & Shoes (Queen Bee)
After that we had dinner and cake and played a ton of pictionary. It was a lot of fun and some ridiculous drawing skills were shown. haha
We also pretty much violated Lucy's closet and I got to try on Btssb Alice's portrait ribbon jsk + bow and the Innocent World Viennese Waltz as well. Aww i kinda look cute in her sweet style. Weird but cute.

The next day we all woke up a bit tired and late... and everyone was very lazy too. We had a 30min talk about who should take showers first haha and then everyone one by one started doing so.
I decided to do the dishes and Carla volunteered to make lunch so she went out to get ingredients.
We chatted the entire morning about this and that and it was really nice.
We ended up eating a wonderful curry dish and getting dressed after lunch. After that we got lazy and took photos indoors again and watched harry potter.
Outfit: Dress (Metamorphose); Shirt (primark); Socks/bag/accessories (offbrand); Shoes (queen Bee) & headbow (handmade - gift)
Some girls left and some others decided to go to a chinese restaurant and have dinner.
After that we all left and said our goodbyes.
It was very tiresome for me I must say but i had a blast. We should def. do something of the sort more often!

So yes, a ton of birthday parties, not something that happens to me very often but it was fun!
Speaking of which mine is coming up and I have no idea what I want this year. I usually would ask for a moitié dress but i must admit i'm not really dying for one at this time. I might ask for another blythe doll but also not sure which one to get. Speaking of purchases I also have not been making any recently. I only seem to buy things when they are very special or something I really want. I got this new bonnet from Triple Fortune. It's not THE triple fortune bonnet but its a very interesting piece. One of my biggest pet peeves with bonnets and complex hats is that they need to be tied in the front with a ribbon and that sometimes makes me look bloated so when i saw this I knew I had to get it. it's a mini half bonnet that works as an headband. How cool is that?

And that's all for now. I hope you liked reading!

Several outfits post

I haven't been wearing lolita very much lately but I do have some un-posted outfits to share. Sometimes I do wear lolita garments out of lolita but that's not very interesting.

The first outfit is from the 5th of October
We went to take a stroll at a local park and just relax. It was fun and since one of the girls had never been there before it felt like we were kind of showing the city a bit.

lucythewhite and me

Outfit shot: Aatp headress, MmM dress, socks, bolero, Iw parasol, bordello boots, etc

My favorite photo of the bunch.

The second outfit I'm posting is from the 23rd of October.
It was the anniversary of Kamikaze Girls and in Japan they had this massive party to celebrate it so we thought it would be nice to gather and watch the movie or something. It was raining cats and dogs that day and I wore something dark and warm. Unfortunately we took photos indoors only and this is the only photo were you somewhat can see what I wore.

Outfit shot: VM dress, MmM jacket, IW bag, Btssb boots, offbrand beret, socks and shirt and something on the beret that i forgot...

Then the third was on the 31st of October for Halloween of course.
I have to admit I adore Halloween. I can't begin to tell you guys how sad I am to tell you that, unfortunately In Portugal, there is zero to no Halloween tradition at all. No trick or treating (almost none at least), nobody dressing up and walking around town (maybe just at nightclubs and parties...), just nothing more than some more thematic movies on tv that night.
Fortunatly some of the girls share my passion for it and we decided to meetup and just hang out that night. I don't think anyone actually planned an outfit but everyone went with gothis lolita and/or some macabre bits here and there.

Outfit shot: MmM dress (as a shirt), Aatp dress, Atelier Pierrot skirt, Ebay tights, Bordello boots, a ton of random stuff on my head and as accessories.

Me and my dear lucythewhite again. You can see a bit of my black hair underneath the wig. The wig is by cyperous, i totally recommend them.

As to what I've been buying lately... well i got a cardigan (that seems to be a bit too small unfortunately), a pair of socks and i got a dress on a trade for another dress. I like all the pieces very much, just wish i had a smaller frame.
Wanna see?

I am having a very tasty cup of tea that should be a bit odd since its one of those "healthy" blends... but i'll post about my day when i get back home tonight. Thank you for reading my irrelevant bla bla bla once again.

23.03.2011 Drama banana rama

Hello again,

I'm sorry for being a bit absent lately but I haven't felt like posting as much as before and i've also been busy with other stuff.

There has been some drama around the Portuguese community in the recent past, it came from (I hope) non-lolitas, only people who claim to like the fashion and yet would like to insult very openly the few people who actually care about the fashion dearly in their country. I do not get it and i will never get it. I get the frustration, I get being mad for several reasons but i will never get nor forgive the betrayal, the fakeness and just overall the evil nature of those people.
That all being said, I'd like to ask people not to steal content from my blog, my posts on livejournal and the Portuguese lolita community without permission if possible. Thank you.

I am sorry for bringing this up but I just had to before i can keep posting here like this. It sounds naive and some of you might think I'm lying but honestly i had never felt exposed until these last month's drama posts came to be. Also my familly was affected by this, as these people insulted us all, exposing even my own real name as well as my familly's name.

I hope you undertand (and if you have created drama in the past, read this, think about it and just stop. Everyone has to be better than this).

Love,
J
